White Paper on Proposed Reforms to the WissZeitVG
Check out the Steering Group’s white paper, written to provide feedback to the BMFTR about the new WissZeitVG.
Last week, our Steering Group submitted a white paper on the proposed reforms to the Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz (WissZeitVG) to the Bundesministerium für Forschung, Technologie und Raumfahrt (BMFTR). In it, they lay out key improvements in the new law, as well as what elements are still missing. In particular, they focus on the need for clearly-defined qualification goals for the postdoc stage, and propose a shift from an emphasis on time spent on fixed term contracts to an emphasis on a researcher's progression toward defined qualification goals.
As always, we are grateful to the BMFTR for their openness to the perspectives and feedback of early career researchers.
